The Heart of the Hills Players presents
the Michigan premier of

“Taking My Turn”

an award-winning musical play

The play was written by the late Robert H. Livingston, the stepson of Heart of the Hills member Beverly Luria (who is also in the production) and played off-Broadway to critical acclaim. The show ran 345 performances at the Entermedia Theatre in New York’s East Village in the 1980s.
The show also had a television production on PBS in the 1980s. Among the cast members on that TV production were Margaret Whiting, veteran pop singer; Cissy Houston (Whitney Houston’s mother); and Marni Nixon, who dubbed singing for other actresses in movies such as the King and I and My Fair Lady.
“Taking My Turn” is based on the reflections of ordinary, older people. It’s funny, witty, touching, lively and nostalgic.
Some of the song titles in the show include “I’m Not Old”, “Fine for the Shape I’m In”, “Sweet Longings” aka “Making Love at 60”, “Pick More Daisies”, and “It Still Isn’t Over”.
Performances will be held at the Warren Community Center, 5460 Arden, Warren, May 19 at 2:30 p.m., May 20-21 at 7:00 p.m. and May 22 at 3:30 p.m.

What is this, I hear you ask, well…

Not everyone can make their way to Warren Community Theatre or Macomb Community Theatre, so we assemble a few of our talented folks (about ten) and hike over to where they live or gather.  Maybe an assisted living place, a Red Hat Group, a Senior Center, wherever we can add music that they are familiar with.  We sing, we dance and sometimes we tell silly stories.  We interact with the audience as music touches the Spirit in numerous ways, sometimes a smile or laugh, sometimes a sweet memory.  It is experiential. There is a small fee, but, we do this as volunteers and the fee goes into our treasury to upgrade and improve our equipment.  We are a 501 c 3 group.

A big thank you to Don S., our sound man and guitar player, Justine B., always at the  keyboard. And so many others who give freely of their time and energies.
